This page describes Microsoft© Windows®, and the odd OSX, tips that can assist the day-to-day usage of the system software.

List Files by Date Modified

To locate all files that were modified on a particular date, or within a range of dates:

In Windows Explorer (or File Explorer), select or open the folder to be searched, or select "This PC" from the list of folders
In the top right-hand corner of the window, is a box that says Search or Search this PC. At the right-hand end of the box is an image of a magnifying glass
Enter modified: (complete with colon) into the Search box, and a calendar opens, including the "Today", "Yesterday", etc. time options
The current date is highlighted. If it is not appropriate, select the required date. If a date range is required, drag the cursor across the required days.
Alternatively, enter the date range manually, in the following format: datemodified:10-Aug-2020 .. 19-Aug-2020. The two full stops between the dates are required

To transfer photos from a PC to Instagram, open Instagram.com (within Firefox) and:

Right-click anywhere on the Instagram page and then select Inspect Element (in Firefox) from the list of options. A window with random text opens at the bottom of the page
Click the small tablet icon (with an iPhone next to it) in the top right-hand corner of the inspector tool to enter Responsive Design Mode (<Ctrl> + <Shift> + <M>)
The Instagram interface should refresh, showing the mobile website, complete with the <+> button to create a post.

To transfer photos from a Mac to Instagram, open Instagram.com (within Safari), which needs to resemble that of an iPhone:

Open the Safari Browser and navigate to "www.instagram.com"
If the Developer tab is not visible in the Menu Bar, click Safari (from the Top Menu Bar), then Preferences and Advanced, and ensure the "Show Develop Menu" option is enabled/selected
From the Menu Bar, select Develop, User Agent and Safari – iOS 13.1.3 – iPhone (or the latest version of iOS)
The page should automatically reload in a mobile format. If it doesn’t, a hard refresh (<Cmd> + <R>) of the page should do the trick. This allows images to be upload to Instagram, directly from a Mac
